The Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Heads to Simpson for the Grand
Author : Ian Vale

The Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series returns to Simpson Speedway for the Series Grand Final this weekend, for the first time in four years the Series has been won at the previous round by Brett Milburn but from second right thru the next twenty places in the points standings it is still a very open affair.

Brett Millburn’s performance at Premier Speedway with a fifth place in the A Main put any challenge for the Eureka Series Crown beyond reach of his fellow competitors. Other changes in the points at that meeting in the KTM top ten had Darren Mollenoyux moved into second place demoting Corey McCullagh to third place leaving him with only sixty seven points ahead of Jye Okeeffe. So the battle for second and third in the Series is between Mollenoyux, McCullagh who won the earlier round here at Simpson Speedway and Okeeffe.

A few points further back is the 2013-2014 Series Champion Shaun Dobson who has Adam King, Glen Sutherland and five time Eureka Series winner John Vogels within striking distance for the minor placing’s.

While Dennis Jones and Luke Walker site in ninth and tenth place in the KTM Motorbike top ten there places are no secure as both Tim Hutchins and Jacob Smith still have a chance to make the top ten in the Series.

$5000 to win will have the drivers working overtime at the unique Simpson Speedway to qualify for the A Main that will have six heat races, a C & B Main event plus the top six shootout before the all important Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series season Grand Final A Main event.

With a good mix of drivers coming from the western district Phil Lock, Luke Walker, Tim Rankin, Jye Okeeffe and Jacob Smith to Challenge some of the drivers that have tasted victory in the Eureka Series, Mollenoyux, Vogels, Dobson, Lacey, Vogels, Milburn this all points to another strong field of competitors looking for glory.

Once again Eddie Lumbar will make the trip down from Deniliquin while Glen Sutherland will represent South Australia and Tim Hutchins along with Shaun Dobson will carry the flag for Tasmania.

Kristy Ellis sits fifteenth in the Series points and another good result similar to her recent run at Heartland Raceway will go a long way to locking here into the top fifteen to have a slice of the $40,000 prize poole money and chance to win the Essendon Ford trip to Port Douglas in Luxury accommodation for five days.

Two of the new drivers Jordyn Charge and Brayden Parr that were just sixteen at the beginning of the season have been impressive right throughout this Series and have a bright future in this sport, both drivers are capable of making the A Main event and if they do they could be the surprise drivers, a top ten would not be out of the question for either driver.

Other regular drivers nominated are Rod Matthews, Tim Van Ginneken, David Aldersley, Charles Hunter and David McKay that will be part of the thirty plus field of drivers nominated.

Grand Final time for the 2015-2016 Eureka Garages and Sheds Series at Simpson Speedway this weekend for the second night of Labour Day Clash which will also feature a $5,000.00 A-Main event plus a mini $3000 bonus for the top 4 Drivers from last week and this week’s A Main events on finishing points thanks to Premier Speedway and Simpson.
