The Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series heads to Simpson Speedway and Premier Speedway this long weekend with big fields of nominations for both events before Heading to Blue Ribbon Raceway at Horsham for the penultimate round of the 2016-2017 Series the following weekend.
With four rounds of the Series to go to all the main players in the Series have entered to what are two of the most vital rounds of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series that has five drivers that are still in the hunt for the 2016-2017 Eureka Series Crown.
The top five drivers in the Eureka Series KTM points score are lead by Allansford’s Tim Van Ginneken followed by the current 2015-2016 Series Champion Brett Milburn along with Corey McCullagh, Glen Sutherland and Brayden Parr, these drivers are only separated by four hundred and ninety eight points.
Current point’s leader Tim Van Ginneken scored his first feature race win in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series grand final last season at Simpson Speedway and while he leads the point chase Tim has not yet been one of the nine different drivers that have taken out a Series main event this season. This could be his night once again!
Corey McCullagh also won a round of the Series at Simpson last season, Corey is the only driver so far this season to have won two Eureka Garages & Sheds Series rounds, and another strong finish at Simpson will do his championship aspirations no harm at all.
Both nights of the series will be a tough affair just to qualify for the main events, drivers have nominated for both Eureka Series rounds from Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Act, (Australian Capital territory), New South Wales and a host of Victorians.
Once again a good field of the new generation drivers are in for both nights, the likes of Rusty Hickman, Jordyn Charge and Brayden Parr then joining in at Premier Speedway will be Terry Rankin and Allansford’s Jack Bell who will be having his first taste of Sprintcar action.
Another of the new younger drivers that has had a few runs in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series this season is Jesse Attard, Jesse has been making the trip down from Sydney recently to gain more experience and this weekend we will see Jesse and his mother Kim Becker an established sprintcar competitor at both rounds.
David Murcott took the round one win back in October and is also entered for both rounds, David has to be a major contender at each event. Other Eureka Series winners from this season that are in for both nights are Glen Sutherland and Simpson local Tim Rankin.
John Vogels, Charles Hunter, Jacob Smith are regular Eureka Garages & Sheds competitors who will represent the Western District of Victoria this weekend.
Thirty plus drivers will be in the pits at Simpson for round twelve of the Series, the Simpson venue is a little different to most venues and it can be challenging for the drivers but very entertaining for the spectators.
The format for the Simpson round will be random drawn heats to qualify for the Eureka Garages & Sheds A Main that will also see a top six time trial shootout to decide the top six starting positions.
Heading to Premier Speedway the next night for the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round thirteen will see all the Simpson contenders heading to Premier Speedway round. Other drivers that will join this round of the Eureka Series will be the last round winner Darren Mollenoyux plus a few interstate drivers.
Team Dumesny, Max , Matthew & Marcus have all nominated for the Eureka Garages & Sheds event,Tasmainian Shaun Dobson will be in the mix as will Queensland’s Robbie Farr just to add a bit of a challenge to the forty five plus field of nominations.
Round thirteen of the Eureka Series will open with the seeded heat Group time trials that will carry points in the drivers heat races to qualify for the Main events.
Both events will be looking for early start with engine starts and hot laps to commence at approximately 5.30pm to 5.45pm.
