The Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria return to Heartland Raceway this weekend for the annual Hickman Tree Maintenance 360 Sprintcar Challenge with a healthy field of nominations that will be lead by the farther and son combination Darren and Rusty Hickman who also just happen to be the event sponsors.

What these two drivers have in common is back in the 2015 event Darren was have having his last drive as a full time sprintcar driver before letting his Son Rusty take over the driving duties for the next season. So as it was Darren lead the Hickman Tree Maintenance 360 Challenge all the way that year only to be beaten on the last lap.

Moving onto the event conducted last year, 2016 well Rusty had only had a couple of drivers prior the 2016 Hickman Tree Maintenance 360 Challenge but on the night he showed he had what it takes to drive a sprintcar when he qualified onto the front row for the main event and went on to lead the race for the first nineteen laps before a flat ending his run.

So this weekend these drivers that have been the front runners in the past two season in this event will line up together to see who is the master and try to conquer this event, Darren will be driving the Act40 Machine while Rusty will in the V40 car.

But for Darren and Rusty they will have some stiff competition with the likes of Brenton Farrer who was the runner up last year add in Paul Solomon who performance well at Heartland and then throw in one of the most impressive young drivers in Victoria Braydan Parr plus Shepparton local Jesse Nicholas.

Brayden Parr has raced at the Heartland venue a few times this season and on his last visit in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series he was one of the top performers to come away with a very impressive second place behind Corey McCullagh, Brayden will be one to watch this Saturday night.

While Brayed has been racing mainly in the open events with a 410 power plant he will be joined by a few of the regular open sprintcar drivers that have nominated and will have 360 cubic inch engines in for this event, Deniliquin’s Eddie Lumbar, along with David Aldersley and Michael Cunningham’

Two lady racers have also nominated, Georgia McLeod will be driving the Act 55 car while Jessica Moulden will be in the Act68. Jessica has been very successful in her racing program so far claiming an Australian F500 Title and last season she turned her hand to the Speedcar ranks before stepping back up the Sprintcars, Jessica had a brief run in the a sprintcar a few years back.

Bendigo local Darren Clark has also returned to the Sprintcar racing now that work commitments have allowed him a bit more time to enjoy one of hobbies.

Also Daniel Ellis could nearly call this track Heartland Raceway home as he also lives not far out of Bendigo, Daniel is having his first season in the family Sprintcar and has been doing a good job and gained some great experience so far.

With a couple more nominations expected the 2017 SRA 360 Sprintcar Hickman Tree Maintenance Challenge will be a good night of sprintcar action along with the Super Sedans and the V8 Dirt Modifieds that will be racing for their Victorian Title.
