McFadden Takes Maximum Points & Another Eureka Series Win
Author : Ian Vale

James McFadden took maximum points on his way to yet another Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series win at Borderline Speedway last night in a none stop race where McFadden lapped all up to fifth place when the chequred flag was waved, but he didn’t have it all his own way at the start of the Main event.

With the heat group time trials getting the racing underway it was Jock Goodyer, Corey McCullagh, James McFadden and Bobby Daly setting the fastest times in their time trial groups that would give them each a pole position start in their first heat race before a full inversion for their second heat.

While Steven Lines, Corey McCullagh, Bobby Daly, Mark Carlin, Marcus Dumesny and Troy Hose all took a heat win each is was James McFadden who topped the qualifying points heading in the Main events after winning his first heat race and then taking his second heat race win after starting from position ten showing he was going to be hard to beat come finals time.

But first there was the matter of the two shootouts for the top six qualifiers for the Eureka Garages & Sheds A Main starting positions. In the Silver shootout was Marcus Dumesny, Bobby Daly, Jock Goodyer and Jye Okeeffe. Dumesny and Goodyer set the two best times to transfer to the Gold Shootout and take on top point’s man James McFadden and Corey McCullagh. Three qualifying laps later and it was Dumesny who set the best time to start from P1 in the Main event leaving McFadden in position two while McCullagh and Goodyer would start from row two, Okeeffe and Daly were out of row three.

The other drivers to qualify for the Eureka A Main in order were Steven Lines, Brett Milburn, Daniel Pestka, Brock Hallett, Peter Doukas, and Lachlan McHugh along with the B Main transferring drivers of Aidan Hall, Adam King, Jordyn Charge, Chris Solomon, Tim Hutchins and Lisa Walker.

While The C and B Main events were punctuated with a few restarts that would not be the case in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round four Main event.

Race time and it was Dumesny winning the race start to open small gap back to McFadden and McCullagh, Okeeffe demoted Goodyer from fourth place early on but Goodyer quickly readdressed that position with Lines also passing Okeeffe as the race settled down. Dumesny was looking good holding a good line but as the race neared one third distance McFadden made his move and took the race lead.

One third distance and the top ten order was now McFadden, Dumesny, McCullagh, Goodyer, Lines, Pestka, McHugh, Okeeffe, Doukas and Hutchins. Hutchins only last another few laps before pulling infield to retire from the race.

Up front and McFadden was setting a cracking pass and was reading the traffic well as he set about driving thru the lapped traffic to open a big margin over Dumesny and McCullagh, McCullagh was now closing in on Dumesny to take second place near the halfway mark. Pestka found a way past Lines who went into a very entertaining battle with McHugh where these two drivers traded places each lap but Lines would hold the position as the crossed the start on each lap.

With many battles going on between the drivers all over the track it hard to know who to watch.

But back up front and James McFadden was in a league of his own running high and low thru the traffic as the laps wound down to lap all up to fifth place when the chequred flag was waved. Such was McFaddens lead nine lapped cars followed him home before second placed Corey McCullagh crossed the line with Marcus Dumesny taking a well deserved third place ahead of Jock Goodyer, Daniel Pestka, Steven Lines, Lachlan McHugh, Peter Doukas, Chris Solomon and Jye Okeeffe who rounded out the top ten drivers. Next home was Brett Milburn from Brock Hallett, Adain Hall, Jordyn Charge, Bobby Daly and Lisa Walker.

While James McFadden had a great night taking all before him the current Eureka Series Champion Corey McCullagh also had a good night that went well for him with a second place giving him three hundred and ninety six point on the night to move him into the Series points lead.

Aidan Hall won the B Main to transfer to the A Main along with Adam King, Jordyn Charge, Chris Solomon, Tim Hutchins who came thru from the C Main and the final transferring driver was Lisa Walker.

Transferring from the C Main to the B Main was the winner Jake Tranter, Tim Hutchins, Charles Hunter and Ryan Davis.
