Eureka Sprintcar Series R5 Goes to Jordyn Charge
Author : Ian Vale

Jordyn Charge is the latest driver to add his name to the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series feature winners list after taking command of the race at the half way point of round five of the Series last night at Wangaratta Speedway.

It was an interesting night of racing on slick race track earlier in the evening that had the drivers working hard to go forward in their heat races before heading into the Eureka garages & Sheds A Main event on track surface that allowed great three wide action throughout the event.

Mark Carlin topped the points heading into the shootout events for the A Main final starting positions. Bobby Daly and Chris Solomon set the best times over Ryan Davis and Charles Hunter to advanced from the Silver shootout to the Gold to take on both Mark Carlin and Jordyn Charge for the front row start of the Main event and that they did. Daly set the best time to give him pole position and Solomon lined up beside him demoting both Carlin and Charge back to the second row.

The line up for the Main event was set with the six shootout drivers settling their starting spots who were joined by the other qualifying driver, Terry Rankin, Braydan Parr, Brett Milburn, Chris Campbell, Sam Wren, Grant Stansfield, Robert Nicholas, Dennis Jones, Steven Spark, Brendan Rallings and Brett Smith.

After a couple of hot laps for the drivers to settle into the track conditions the field was set to greet the green flag. Daly got the jump over Solomon who also lost out to Charge now into second place with Carlin back to fourth place when only a few laps in the caution lights were on to remove the stricken car of Terry Rankin.

Back under way and Daly opened a small gap back to Charge leaving Solomon, Carlin and Hunter to battle for third place. Further back the action was also going on between Parr, Davis and Milburn.

Up front and the leaders were now into some traffic that produced some very entertain three wide action for a few laps with Daly on the bottom, the lapped car of Spark in the middle and Charge on the outside, Daly got the break but Charge was held up for another lap before he cleared the lapped car and set sail after Daly. Solomon was moving away from Carlin, Parr and Hunter who were racing each other hard trading places, this allowed Milburn to move in on the action as well.

Half race distance and a little more traffic Charge was back on Daly’s tail tank and took the race lead while Solomon was on the move as well quickly putting a pass on Daly to head off after the race leader Charge, before the caution lights were back on for Spark and Campbell who had a coming together and were out of the race.

Seven to go on the restart and Charge wasted no time to get back up to speed but Solomon was looking strong and kept Charge in his sights. Hunter had won his battle with Carlin and Parr to also catch Daly to third place from him heading into the final laps.

Solomon was setting the best lap times over the final few laps to close in on Charge but as the cheque flag was waved he came up short to finish just on half a second behind Jordyn Charge who put yet another strong drive to take a well deserved Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round win.

Charles Hunter was please to take third place ahead of Braydan Parr from Bobby Daly, Brett Milburn finished in sixth place which gave him enough points on the night to take over the Eureka Series points lead. Rounding out the race finishers were Mark Carlin, Ryan Davis, Dennis Jones, Sam Wren, Grant Stansfield, Brett Smith, Brendan Rallings and Robert Nicholas.

Jordyn Charge was very elated to take the round five Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series win which has topper off a good week for him and the team after also taking the SRA 360 Sprintcar Gold Cup feature win at Western Speedway Hamilton last weekend.
