Chris Solomon gets the job done driving the V83 at Heartlands Eureka Series R8 - Phot by Corey Gibson Photography

Seriously Fast Solomon’s Claim Heartland Rounds
Author : SRA Media

Another excellent crowd witnessed a story book ending for the Solomon boys at Heartland Raceway, Moama on Saturday night when Chris Solomon sped to his maiden series win in round 8 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series while brother Paul also saluted in the C&H Trucking Pro Sprints Series round held on the same night.

Solomon had to race passed early race leader and Gold Shootout winner Jordy Rae 10 laps into the 30 lap A-main before a brilliant turn of car speed through traffic ensured he would record a four and a half second win over Rae with Jordyn Charge impressively crossing the line in third recapturing some of his best form.

Solomon’s ability to get the most out of his aging equipment and used tires is quickly making him the success story of the 2002/23 Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series. As always Chris proved to be calculating throughout the long green flag runs while always managing his position through heavy traffic at other times.

Earlier in the evening Chris set quick time in his group and was on his way to pole position in the Gold Shootout before a sizzling last lap courtesy Rae thwarted that plan ensuring he would start from outside of the front row.

While Solomon celebrated in victory lane, Rae was ruing a decision to move to the outside on the back markers in traffic that ultimately cost him the race lead however the dying laps produced further highlights when he raced wheel to wheel with Jordyn Charge.

While Rae would cross the line in second, Charge was simply outstanding racing his way around a slick highline throwing all he could at Rae for the runner up spot before he crossed the line a fine third.

Fourth home was a pleasing result for Brayden Parr who at one point looked like a top 3 finishing car and finally put to rest some of the bad luck that has plagued his season.

Ashley Cook raced well all evening on his way to fifth ahead of a very racy Tim Hutchins while fellow Tasmanian Brody Appleby impressed on his way to solid seventh place finish.

Eighth home was Jackson Delamont who recovered well after earlier missing the invert in his heat race due to a low qualifying effort by his usual high standards while Terry Rankin and Jesse Attard rounded out the top 10.

Outside of the top 10 were Mitch Smith, Matthew Reed, Chris McInernery, David Dennison, Daniel Reinhardt and Leigh Mugavin while Chris Campbell, Kevin Reeve and David Aldersley finished infield.

Heat race wins went the way of Tim Hutchins who managed to cruise the highline minus brakes to record a popular win while Brayden Parr set the scene for his night with a stirring win from fourth starting spot.

Ashley Cook and Chris Solomon were quick time in their respective groups.

While Chris Solomon put the icing on the cake, earlier in the evening Paul Solomon drove a faultless 25 lap race to win the C&H Trucking Pro Sprints Series round ahead of round 1 winner at Avalon Raceway Charles Hunter with Jordy Rae finishing third.

Heat race wins in the C&H Trucking series went to Shane Steenholdt, Paul Solomon, Charles Hunter and Jordy Rae with some excellent racing throughout the fields before the solid crowd.

The Eureka Garages and Sheds Series now looks to Western Speedway, Hamilton for round 9 on Saturday, February 18th.
