Avalon Set for Thrilling Eureka Garages and Sheds Series Final
Author : SRA Media

The exciting conclusion to the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series is set for decision this Saturday night at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway with close to forty Sprintcars making an appearance in round 12 with series leader Matthew Reed and current runner up Terry Rankin amongst a strong field.

Despite the opening round washout back in November, the series has managed to complete the next 10 rounds uninterrupted with eight different drivers winning a series round.

It’s been a great series to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Eureka Garages and Sheds partnering with the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria with a large variety of tracks visited with numerous different round winners ensuring it will be an exciting final night at Avalon Raceway this weekend.

There’s no doubt seven time series champion Matthew Reed has left his run late despite hovering around the top 3 all season and now heads into Saturday night with a slight 74 point advantage over Rankin who in turn is 181 points ahead of third placed Ashley Cook.

Series rookie Jordy Rae sits fourth and looks certain to maintain his position inside the top 5 while Tim Hutchins has enjoyed a relatively strong series to be sitting fifth overall.

Saturday night’s field is certainly bolstered with the inclusion of Supercar regular Cameron Waters who is coming off a strong runner up finish last weekend behind feature winner Brock Hallett. Waters showed plenty of speed to finish ahead of another impressive result from Tate Frost.

Frost has podiumed in the last pair of Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series rounds and there’s no reason the popular Launceston based ace won’t be near the top three once again at Avalon.

Josh Buckhingham was running a very strong top 5 last weekend before a late DNF denied a strong result however Buckingham showed much of the talent that saw him win the Australian Formula 500 Championship in 2019.

The series will welcome back Grant Anderson who took victory in round 5 at Simpson and led the series points early in the season and the popular Albury ace will be once again amongst the leading contenders.

Saturday night will see the return of Jack Lee to the mix while another impressive run from Will Carroll last weekend will boost his confidence entering into Saturday night’s final round.

There’s no doubt the pair of Jamie Veal and Rusty Hickman will produce a large number of fans with Veal’s immense talent and car speed will stand him as one of the heavy pre race favourites while Hickman’s performance in January at Avalon where he scorched to a podium finish after starting in the B-main will have many eyes on him.

There’s been a solid number of strong results from Jordyn Charge, Grant Stansfield, Brody Appleby, Kale Quinlan, Chris Solomon, Brett Milburn and Brayden Parr to name but a few and there would be little surprise to see any of them among the leading finished on Saturday night.

Young guns Mitchell Smith, Marcus Green and Jett Bell are amongst the next generation of racers that continue to make a name for the themselves in the tough Victoria Sprintcar scene.

All drivers will contest qualifying, a heat race each before the top 8 shootouts and the C-main, B-main and A-main for the final round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series.
